{day 1} photos and words

 

Monday Morning

Sehri:

• 5:20 am: got up for sehri, made paratha’s and kebabs, woke him up, we both had our sehri, had our vitamins
• he put his laptop on for a while I cozied up infront of the heating, we both went to sleep again around 6:15 am

 

• 10:30 am: woke up to see him getting out of bed. while he showered I checked my mail and then saw him off.

My Day:

• I made the bed
• Folded left over clothes from last night
• Lysol’ed and Wiped down bathroom counters
• Got to my computer again, checked my facebook, email, flickr and my.live, chatted on im with a friend
• 12:00 pm: Saw pakistan sangeet icon
• Spent some time in the craft room, started a new journal about pieces from our life
• Took pictures
• Took the garbage from the kitchen out, and took some pictures of the maple in the sun
• Dusted the living room
• Did some towel laundry
• Made some phone calls to get drivers test appointment (have to call again tomorrow)
• Rinsed dishes from sehri and put the dishwasher on
• Cut some roses from the rosebush and put them in a vase on the mantle
• 5:15 pm: started making iftari, pakoras samosas egg sandwiches fruit chaat chana chaat

Our Evening:

• 7:05 pm: the boy gets home
• We have our iftari together, and eat infront of the tv, while he tells me about the financial crisis in the country (I had no idea till then). We watch anderson cooper and joke about sarah palin.
• 8:00 pm: sarah conner chronicles starts, and he sits down to watch it, while I go clean up after dinner and make tea for us.
• We have tea while we watch sarah conner.

• I put gossip girl on which I had dvr’d and he plays with his iphone, after which he goes into the study and plays some music.
• I call my grandmom to get a recipe for eid.
• He’s in the study while I sit in the living with the laptop while I put the local news at 11 on to catch up on the financial crisis.
• I chat with my sister on IM, write about day 1 and then sit with my laptop in the study while he plays his music there.
• 1:20 am: I change, while he has his milk and watches the news for a while
• I plan an eid card to send out to people, take daily shot in the bathroom with him, and then read for awhile
• 2:30 am: we put out the lights

{week in the life} update

 

so yesterday was the first day in this project, as expected i took way too many pictures, and had trouble deciding which ones to choose. I’m not too sure if i’m going to be able to scrapbook, but i decided to upload all the pics and some words from each day, the next day here on my blog. and then atleast i’ll have all the words and pictures incase i want to make my scrapbook but i’m not stressing out over that yet. Just want to enjoy the whole picture taking and documenting this week process:)

I’ve made a folder in my computer for the week in my life project, with seperate folders for each day in it. and then i put the selected photos in there along with a word file with points about the day. I loved how Ali was writing down her day in the form of lists, I like that idea and i did the same yesterday.

so well i’m finally sharing this mini i made a couple of weeks ago. i talked about this earlier as well and i shared a few images too, but never got round to sharing more since i finished it. its got quite a few pages so i’m just sharing some of my favorite ones from it. also i think its an ongoing little book, might add pages to it if i feel like it. so well this is a collection of some favorite love lyrics and quotes and its a collage mini book, made with magazine cuttings and words, simple and fun:)

*organization*

Okay so i've been thinking that i need to organize my blog a little bit. I'm thinking about some weekly posts to add to the blog.These are some of the ideas i have right now.

1. I know i want to do an inspired by post every week, which would have all the images/stuff from the web or otherwise that has been inspiring me. I'm thinking the day to share all this inspiration would be wednesday. I think i'm going to call it, inspire me thursdays for right now, till i think of something else.
2. I also want to add a i'm loving post to share all the loves for the week or maybe month i'm not sure yet.
3. Another thing i wanted to add was a photo love post with images on any particular theme thats inspiring me currently. I would love to just look for images on any particular theme and share that love.
4. I already have a week in pictures post which i'm supposed to do every friday (I know i know i haven't been very regular with that, but i'm trying to force myself to be from now on)
5. POTD: picture of the day is also supposed to be a daily(or monday to friday atleast) post with a daily shot of my photography (note to self: stop being lazy and do it regularly)

so just a few more days of ramadan and ramadan food left (eid’s going to be next wednesday most proly).. i guess we can make the food whenever we want but somehow we tend to do make the pakoras, fruit chaats and chana chaats just in ramadan mostly. Sep 08: early autumn outside target in redmond, WA

been a while

i haven't done any regular posts for the last few days i guess.. i think i should be back tomorrow:)

very sad

Woke up this morning to another sad event in pakistan, a huge blast rocked marriot hotel, killing dozens of people and destroying one of the landmarks of islamabad. most of us from the city have lots of memories from that place, and now watching it in flames knowing that so many of the people there were killed is immensely sad. read about it here.

the fact that the blast took place at iftar time when lots of people were there to break their fasts for the month of ramazan is enough to say that these people aren’t muslims, they’re just ruining the name of our religion. we’re all just sad, very sad today!

the story:

after dinner every night, me and my husband have our tea, while we watch tv or he plays xbox while i read or get the laptop. so well like i said my tea is ALWAYS black (i like it strong, with milk and sugar, please), and his is mostly green with honey and a drop of lemon:)

i just heard this song on someone’s playlist and was reminded that i loved the song when jordin sparks sang it on american idol. (i tend to forget my favorite songs and movies soemtimes, till i’m reminded of them later, which is frustrating specially when i have to write/tell about my favorite songs or movies), sigh so i just youtubed the song and watched it again and thought i’d put it up here too..

the colors for fall have been announced apparently. and I just found that out through this blog that I just have to share. the colors are gorgeous I love all of them, specially these three: 'salmon rose', 'lucite green', 'dark citron', GORGEOUS!

remembering the day when the whole world changed. thinking of the number of innocent lives that were lost, and those that were changed forever.

remembering the start of a war which might never end. wondering how many people still have to die in this war. remembering all the nations that have been and those that are going to be affected by this new world.

trying to remember what the world was like before all this and wishing there was a way to go back in time. maybe if we could've, we would have lived differently.

and just before i leave to go cook some food, here's the picture of the day, one girl who loves her tea, wonder who, yea me (sigh)!

stoopid header!

okay so turns out the header i made is making the page load really slow and its acting wierd so i've taken it off for a while, will fix it when i get some time. this is what the header is supposed to look like *sigh*

so well its last night and i'm trying to sleep, and you know those nights when you've turned the lights out, you're lying down, your eyes are closed, you're trying to sleep, but your brain just wont turn off? yes that was me last night. i kept getting ideas about all kinds of things from mini's to paper crafts for the house, to new things i should cook, to an eid party i should have, to the guest lists for it and what the menu should be, yea i thought of everything! and THEN, i got this idea for this mini book, and i got to the computer, printed these pictures out and made this till sehri (the breakfast meal for when you fast in ramazan). it was so much fun, simple, not alot to do, just plain feel good stuff! i just finished putting the date stamps and all and taking pictures of it, here it is.. ta da:D
